Mukteswar CC lift Prahallad Biswal Memorial Trophy

Mukteswar Cricket Club (MCC) emerged champions in the 2nd Prahallad Biswal Memorial U-15 Cricket Tournament, defeating Paramount Sporting by three wickets in the all-Bhubaneswar final at Saheed Sporting Ground here today.

Champion MCC received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and runners-up Paramount Sporting Rs 10,000. Losing semifinalists Juvenile Club (Cuttack) and Jagruti Cricket Academy (Bhubaneswar) were given Rs 5,000 each. Manitej Mohanty of Paramount pocketed the player of the tournament prize that carried Rs 2,500.

The prizes for player of the final match, best batsman, best bowler, best wicketkeeper and best fielder were bagged by Ranjeet Mohanty (MCC), Anurag Biswal (MCC), Aniket Tripathy (Paramount), Manab Bhattacharya (Juvenile) and Anwesh Tripathy (Saheed Sporting) respectively.

Bhubaneswar Central MLA Bijay Kumar Mohanty, All India Radia, Cuttack Director Suhas Mohanty, tournament sponsor Lifestyle Properties Managing Director Partha Biswal and former Odisha Ranji team captain Rashmi Ranjan Parida handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. Host Saheed Sporting Club secretary Pankaj Patnaik and other members were present on the occasion.

The tournament was inaugurated by hockey Olympian Lazrus Barla earlier on December 18. As many as 14 teams from twin city Cuttack and Bhubaneswar participated in this tournament, which featured 40-over matches on turf wicket.
